Process, Principals & Philosophy

Dig Deep

I explore every angle, diligently analyzing  data points, while noting each question and concern. I take a holistic approach, to understanding both the users and business.

Care to Share

I strive to foster an inclusive and open environment where great communication thrives. I share my work often and openly communicate with teammates, whether we have the chance to collaborate daily or once in a blue moon.

Always Poke Holes

Great ideas need to be workshopped for a successful execution. I put potential solutions through the wringer by critically challenging and stress-testing them with the help of subject matter experts. My process ensures developed solutions are: practical, well-rounded, resilient, and ready for real-world adoption.

Reflect + Perfect

Continuous improvement is at the heart of my approach. Regular reflection and feedback from peers allows me to refine my processes, enhance outcomes and celebrate my achievements. I also strive to be able to provide constructive feedback to my peers and praise them for their good work.

Craft + Research for All

I endeavour to craft experiences and solutions with everyone in mind. Acknowledging that no community is a monolith, I strive to involve diverse sets of participants in research. This approach enriches the final outcome, making solutions more robust, and ensuring edge cases are considered.

Lead by Example

I always strive to deliver best-in-class work while avoiding the limitations of a perfectionist mindset. I contribute wildcard ideas, seek clarification as needed, and support my teammates when they need help or encouragement. This cultivates an open, empowering atmosphere for true collaboration, allowing innovative and impactful work to routinely flourish.

As a natural problem solver, at the age of 5 I was re-designing ice skates. The boot of a hockey skate was too thick and overly restrictive, the blade of figure skates had toe picks which I dreaded. I thought, someone ought to design skates for the Canadians who simply wanted to glide around the ice-rink, so I set pen to paper and began designing my dream skates. This was just the start of my days re-thinking the world around me.

I learned about Human Centered Design (HCD) during my time studying at Emily Carr University of Art + Design, the philosophy behind HCD spoke to how I wanted practice my design craft. Through school projects and internships I found myself most engaged by big messy problem spaces, and wanting to tackle the structure behind the problems. As my career took off I naturally grew into and excelled at Service Design and UX Research.

Tool Box

Some of the tools I've enjoyed working with as part of my strategic process. I'm always open to learning the ins and outs of new tools as one of the many ways to grow my practice.

What I've been up to

In September 2022, I made the decision to return to Canada after gaining valuable experience over four years of working in the UK, where I had the immense privilege of working for the National Healthcare Service (NHS) and for the award winning digital agency Code Computerlove. Embracing my choice to relocate, I took a sabbatical to fulfill my long-held dream of taking a gap year, traveling across Canada, France, Italy, Japan, Portugal, & Spain.

Since relocating to Toronto I've been working on a  stealth-mode startup, and acting as a  Fife House Finance Committee member.
